PROFESSIONALS AND SECURITY

Work footwear must meet very high quality and protection standards.
Compliant with the requirements set out by the latest regulations, Gamar Italia components designed for professional footwear allow operators to work in complete safety, even in particularly demanding environments.
The range of components produced by Gamar Italia for safety footwear is extensive, covering everything from protection against impact and mechanical stress to safety quick-release devices.
Safety and protective footwear
A professional safety shoe is a piece of personal protective equipment designed to protect the foot during work activities, especially in environments where there is a risk of impacts, crushing, slipping or punctures. To perform this function effectively, it must be made of durable materials that comply with current safety regulations, while also ensuring comfort and practicality for prolonged use.
Regulatory requirements
In terms of features, safety footwear must comply with specific regulatory requirements, such as resistance to impact and compression, slip resistance and, in many cases, protection against punctures. Depending on the work environment, it may also offer additional properties such as waterproofing, thermal insulation, antistatic characteristics or resistance to heat. Ultimately, effective professional safety footwear strikes the right balance between protection, comfort and suitability for the working context in which it is used.
How is safety footwear made?
The structure of the shoe consists primarily of the upper, which forms the outer part and serves to protect the foot from external agents. It is generally made of leather or high-resistance technical materials, often treated to be water-repellent or waterproof, so as to adapt to different environmental conditions. Inside the footwear there is a safety toe cap, a key element that protects the toes in the event of falling heavy objects or accidental impacts. This component may be made of steel, aluminum or composite materials and must ensure a high level of impact absorption.
In addition to the upper, the puncture-resistant system
Between the sole and the insole there is a puncture-resistant midsole, designed to prevent nails or other sharp objects from penetrating the shoe and injuring the sole of the foot. The outsole is in turn one of the most important elements, as it guarantees stability and grip on the ground. It is made of specific materials that make it slip-resistant, resistant to wear and chemical agents, and capable of absorbing energy in the heel area while walking. The internal insole, often removable and anatomical, contributes to overall comfort and helps reduce foot fatigue during long working hours.
The lining
The internal lining is designed to keep the foot dry by promoting breathability and preventing the formation of unpleasant odors or hygiene-related issues.
The fastening system
The fastening system, which can range from traditional laces to faster solutions, must ensure a stable and secure fit, preventing unwanted movement of the foot inside the shoe. It must provide a precise fit, limit internal movement and maintain its effectiveness even in demanding conditions.
The most traditional system uses laces and is widely adopted because it allows accurate adjustment along the entire foot. It is particularly appreciated in jobs that involve frequent movement or changing postures, although it can be less practical when footwear needs to be put on and taken off repeatedly.
Velcro fasteners are designed for speed and ease of use. They allow the shoe to be put on and removed quickly and are ideal in contexts where it is important to reduce fitting time. However, they offer a less precise adjustment than laces and may lose effectiveness over time if exposed to dirt or dust.
Gamar Italia has developed quick-lacing systems, such as dial-and-cable solutions (see QLS), which allow fast, uniform adjustment with one hand. They provide excellent stability, reduce pressure points on the foot and are particularly suitable for dynamic working environments or for those who wear safety footwear for many consecutive hours. Moreover, these systems allow the footwear to be opened quickly in case of necessity or danger.
