quick-off the ingenious locking system of the laces
We live in a fast-paced world, but nonetheless, Gamar Italia wants to be in the frontline and pave the way for the development of healthy, sustainable fashion through innovation and functionality. Thanks to Gamar Italia’s detailed research, a new revolutionary patent named Quick-Off has been developed. Quick-Off is a locking system for laces, strings and webbings, created to be mechanically attached to the footwear upper or to a reinforced technical fabric for garments. It takes the form of an eyelet, with an area of free passage for the laces to slide through. Besides this, it features a second area, within its central outline, where the lace can be dragged until it is fully locked. The accessory is simple, clever, and the advantages are so much more, compared to the locking devices, currently available on the market. In the world of footwear, which is the industry we are most involved in, the Quick-Off concept represents an alternative to traditional "U-shaped” hooks, especially in mountaineering and hiking shoes. This new accessory is set very close to the upper, thus it does not protrude and therefore there is no risk of stumbling onto obstacles or breaking against some rocks. It is significantly more durable than traditional hooks, it has a more compact and lighter structure and it can be provided either in zamak or in steel. Moreover it can be applied like a normal eyelet or manufactured in a plastic or bio-plastic compound with a sewable sub-flange. The Quick-Off presents an alternative and and improved setup, both in terms of construction and functionality compared to older solutions. In classic shoes with laces, this system increases the knot hold over time, because the locking ensures less string tension on the knot itself. It also speeds up the lacing operation, by improving the mechanical movements and actions of the hands in the locking process. These are simple but effective features, able to make a huge difference, if the Quick-off solution is employed on high-performance sports and technical shoes, where ergonomics, tightness and weight are paramount.
